Joseph Barrett Obituary

Joseph T. Barrett, 74, of Camp Hill, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 1, 2025 at Carolyn's House – Hospice of Central PA, in Harrisburg.
Born on January 14, 1951 in Ashland, PA, he was the son of the late James J. and Mary I. (Daley) Barrett.
Joe graduated from Immaculate Heart High School in Ashland, PA, and went on to serve his country in the US Navy. Joe was a retired corrections officer with the State Correctional Institute of Camp Hill and a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Camp Hill.
Known for his humor and good nature, Joe had boundless energy. He was an avid cyclist, excellent skier, and dedicated runner who competed in the Boston Marathon. Joe was always ready with a joke or a game, the first to join in any activity or adventure. He simply made life more fun for all who knew him. Joe remained remarkably active until the end, continuing to play racquetball with a special group of friends until the month before his passing.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Cathy A. (Carey) Barrett, of Camp Hill, PA, a son, Patrick Barrett and his wife Jessica, of Greer, SC, two beloved grandchildren, Harper and Hudson Barrett, two sisters, Mary Gilbert and her husband Michael, of Greenville, SC, and Catherine Coyne, of Ashland, PA, a brother, Edward Barrett and his wife Susan, of Greenville, SC, and many loving nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss and remember him dearly.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James Barrett, as well as his in-laws: Harry F. and Dororthy (Strocko) Carey and Carol L. Carey.
Funeral services are being planned for a later date. Myers-Baker Funeral & Cremation Services, Camp Hill, has been entrusted with funereal arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Carolyn's House - Hospice of Central PA, 1320 Linglestown Rd., Harrisburg, PA 17110.
