Joseph Dale Basnett, 78, of Mogadore, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025, after a lengthy illness. He was born on February 11, 1947, in Barberton, Ohio.

Joe was stationed in Guam during the Vietnam War and proudly served his country in the United States Navy as an aircraft mechanic. He received his GED while serving in the Navy. He attended East High School prior to enlisting.

Joe had a diverse and accomplished career, working in auto body repair, later at Goodyear Tire, and he retired from Erie Insurance as an adjuster. Known for his meticulous nature and perfectionist spirit, he brought care and precision to everything he did.  He will be remembered for his dedication to family, sharp eye for detail, and strong work ethic.

He was preceded in death by his father, Cleo Basnett, and his mother, Gertrude Ostrowske.In his personal life, Joe enjoyed woodworking, hunting, and home improvement projects. He took great pride in maintaining the family property in West Virginia, a place that brought him peace and purpose.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Alyce; his sister, Cindy; daughter Nikki Malone and son-in-law Michael Malone; son Michael Basnett and daughter-in-law Jamie Basnett; grandchildren Cheyenne, Jackson, CJ, and Ian. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at 3445 Mogadore Road, Mogadore, Ohio

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Traditions Hospice for their outstanding care and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace House.
