Reverend Joseph "Joey" Paul Beam, 63, of Nebo, North Carolina went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Memorial Mission Hospital in Asheville.
Joey was born on September 30, 1958 in McDowell County to the late Ralph Vernon Beam and the late Dora Lee Black Beam. At the age of fourteen, at Nebo Baptist Church, Joey was saved and called to preach. He attended both New Manna Baptist Church and Bethel Free Will Baptist Church. He had a passion for Missionary trips to Jamaica. Joey enjoyed golfing and going to the coast fishing in October. He also enjoyed wood working and storytelling. In his lifetime he served many families in McDowell, Burke and Rutherford Counties thru his septic and grading business.
Joey is survived by his wife, Theresa Hensley Beam; his two sons, Joseph Christopher Beam (Toni) and Justin Thomas Beam (April); three sisters, Becky Frady (Greg), Patricia Beam and Christina Beam Conley (Chris); a brother, Tim Beam (Gennie); four grandchildren, Logan, Zachary, Karissa and Matthew; He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will take place in the chapel of Beam Funeral Service on Monday, September 26, 2022 at 11:00 am with Rev. Sam Vallini and Bobby Dobson officiating. The family will receive friends in the chapel one hour prior to the service from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. The burial will take place at Bethel Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.

I worked with Joey and other grading contractors for many years in McDowell County and never knew a finer man than Joey Beam, I am truly saddened to know that he has passed, but know he ran a good race.
