Joseph C. Benoit Jr. Jr.

Joseph C. Benoit Jr., age 71 of Swampscott, died peacefully on Thursday, July 24th, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House after a lengthy illness. Joe was born on September 11th, 1953, in Cambridge, son of the late Joseph C. and Mary (Muscatel) Benoit. He was the husband of Geraldine A. (Jaworski) Benoit, with whom he moved to Swampscott in 1990 and shared 35 years of marriage.

In addition to his wife, he is survived and missed by his children; Genevieve Benoit, and Brett Benoit both of Swampscott; his siblings and their families, Phillip Benoit and his wife Eileen, Josie Babbit and her husband Alan, Annette Cournoyer and her husband Robert, Debbie Arena and her husband Steve, Carol Grant and her husband Ed, Gerri Bonano and Delores Taverna, and the late Barbara Crimaldi; his sister-in-law Karen Guelfo and her husband Larry. He is a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews and his memory will be forever cherished by all.

Joe had many professions throughout his life. Most notably, he had a passion for cooking which soon extended beyond a hobby into his universal language. He was the former owner of Sandwiches Pizza & More and Joe's Pizza in Swampscott, and Tommys Pizza in Cambridge.

He was a loving, caring, and supportive father who was involved in all his children's endeavors and was often spending his spare time cheering them on at their sporting events. He was an avid fan of all Boston/New England sports teams, and if you asked him a sports related question, no matter the era or team, he knew the answer. He enjoyed being with friends and family and whenever surrounded by company you could be sure that he was filling them with laughter.

Joe was proud of who he was and his service in the Army; he was selfness man and was resilient to his core. His strength, determination and perseverance carried him throughout his life. He was a hard-working man and did everything with integrity.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 30th, 2025, at 11:30AM at St. John the Evangelist Church in Swampscott. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation at the Church, prior to Mass from 10:00AM-11:30AM. Burial will follow in Swampscott Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Tucker Gosnell Center for Gastrointestinal Cancers at the Mass General Cancer Center to help support ongoing research for patients with gastrointestinal cancers: Liver Cancer Treatment Program
