Joseph Blasio Obituary

CUYAHOGA FALLS - Joseph A. Blasio, 82, passed away February 10, 2021. He was born to Joseph and Lucile (Barone) Blasio on November 6, 1938, the younger brother to Mary Lou. He grew up on North Hill attending St. Hedwig's grade school along with North and St. Vincent High Schools. The family eventually moved to Cuyahoga Falls and he graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1956. At 17, he joined the Navy in September 1956, becoming a Medical Corpsman who spent time deployed with the Marines in the Pacific Theater along with working at various Naval Hospitals. Joe met Patty, the love of his life, and they were married in August 1962. They raised their three sons on North Hill. Joe loved spending time outdoors doing a variety of activities including gardening and working with cut sandstone. He also enjoyed cooking and spending time with family and friends. Joe and Patty hosted Christmas Eve dinner and Easter Sunday brunch for over 50 years. Joe was a member of St. Anthony Church. Joe had a great sense of humor. He loved sharing jokes and never missed an opportunity to pull someone's chain. He is survived by his wife of 58 1/2 years, Patty (Amelio); sons and their wonderful wives, Michael and Shannon of Uniontown, Christopher and Jennifer of Sagamore Hills, and Patrick and Catherine of Pleasant Ridge, Michigan. He was fortunate to have five awesome grandchildren, Nathan, Amelia, Mathew, Nicholas, and Lucilia. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Lou Floyd, and sister-in-law, Bonnie Batman, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. He worked at Firestone for over 18 years and later retired from the City of Akron Water Department in 2004. Per Joe's wishes, and, due to the ongoing pandemic, there will be no services at this time. Cremation has taken place. Joey always livened up any room he was in with his jokes. I'm going to miss him. I can see him cutting up with Rodney Dangerfield trading jokes in Heaven. I will be praying for you Patti and all the rest of the family

Met Joe when I started in the city in 1990 at 20 years old. One of the best people I’ve ever met with from day one he always made me laugh. I am honored to have known this great man.
