Joseph R. Bleistine

Joseph R. Bleistine, age 93, of Penns Grove, NJ passed away on November 21, 2023. Born in Allentown, PA, Joseph was the son of the late George A. and Florence M. Bleistine. He moved to Penns Grove at an early age and was a 1948 graduate of Penns Grove High School. He enlisted into the United States Air Force from 1948 to 1951 in Base Service Squadron, 4415th Air Base Group. Upon his Honorable Discharge, he received the Japanese Occupation Medal and Korean Service Medal. Joseph was employed at the Chambers Works Plant for 39 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Frances Pomponi Bleistine. He is survived by his children, Sandra Carlaw and her husband Robert Jr. and Elena Cuthbertson and her husband Michael; his grandson Robert Carlaw III; his great grandchildren Shaun, Wesley and Owen; his sister in law Helen Giova and her husband Angelo; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his brothers Cyril and George and his sisters Florence and Mary.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 from 10 AM to 11 AM at St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish, 369 Georgetown Road, Carneys Point, NJ 08069 and a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM. Burial will take place at Lawnside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in Joseph's memory to a charity of one's choice. www.adamsfuneralhome.org
