Visiting hours will be held Monday, October 7 from 5-8 at the Carroll-Thomas Funeral Home, 22 Oak Street, Hyde Park. Relatives and friends invited.
Joseph W. Blomquist, affectionately known as Joey to his friends and loved ones, passed away on September 25, 2024, at the age of 60. Born on March 16, 1964, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Joey's warmth and kindness touched all who knew him.
Joey was a devoted father to his beloved daughter, Kristy Rosado, and her husband Yomar of Norwood. He was the son of the late Diane (McAvoy). He cherished every moment spent with them and his granddaughters, Cecilia and Elicia Rosado, who lovingly called him "Grandpa." He was a source of strength and love for his family, and his guidance and support will be deeply missed.
A loyal brother and friend, Joey is survived by his siblings, Scott Blomquist, Bobby Blomquist, Cheryl Atkins, Dina Lima, and remembered fondly by his late brother Jerome Blomquist. His role as Uncle Joe was one he held dear, always ready with a smile for his nieces and nephews, Jessica, Scott Jr., Connor, Lucy, Maria, Lisa, and the late Angela.
Joey dedicated his life to his trade as a plumber, working at many different places, including his own company, JB Plumbing. For the past three years, he worked diligently for Boston Standard Plumbing, where his expertise and work ethic were greatly respected. Joey took immense pride in his craft and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.
Beyond his professional achievements, Joey was a man of diverse interests. He was a loving caretaker to his dog, Jake, and found joy in the simple pleasure of spending time with his daughter and granddaughters. His pride in his daughter's accomplishments was evident to all who heard him speak of her.
Even after being diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, Joey's resilience was unwavering. He faced his illness with the same strength and determination that characterized his life. His spirit remained unbroken, and he continued to inspire those around him with his courage.
In the final moments of his journey, Joey left his daughter Kristy a beautiful and private message on his phone, a testament to their special bond and the depth of his love for her.
Joey will be remembered as a loving, kind, and handy individual, whose presence brought comfort and joy to those around him. His ability to fix more than just leaky pipes, mending the hearts and spirits of those he loved, stands as a testament to the man he was.
As we say goodbye to Joseph W. Blomquist, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and love. He was a beacon of hope and a pillar of strength, and his legacy will continue to shine in the lives of those he touched. Joey's memory will be cherished and kept alive through the stories, laughter, and love he shared with us all.

I have so many memories from my adolescence that include Joey that it would be impossible for me to share one. Joey was our family of choice. Shannon, Gina, Shara, and I were "Joey's girls." He was the big brother that we all needed. He will be missed and always remembered for being one of the good guys. My deepest condolences to Kristi and her girls, and all of the Blomquists. I am sorry that I cannot make the trip back for the services due to unexpected family obligations. Love and Hugs, Cyndi Blackler-Long
