In Loving Memory of Joseph Martin Brandl

August 9, 1949 – April 30, 2025

Joseph Martin Brandl, age 75, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2025, after a courageous four-year battle with copd and lung cancer. Born in Passaic, New Jersey, Joe moved to Connecticut where he started his young family, before ultimately settling in New Hampshire, where he built a life rooted in love, laughter, and family.

Joe shared 46 beautiful years with his devoted wife, Linda. Her unwavering support remained a constant source of strength throughout his life and illness. Together, they raised three children who were the pride and joy of Joe's life, and he took immense joy in watching his seven beloved grandchildren grow. Above all else he cherished his title and roll as Papa!

A skilled tradesman, and proud Navy veteran, Joe embodied strength, loyalty, and resilience. He was known for his sharp wit, sarcastic sense of humor, and a talent for delivering bad jokes and silly pranks! Stubborn and strong-willed, Joe was deeply passionate about politics and never shied away from a spirited debate. One could argue he saw the world through an unbending lens. But behind the fire was a generous, loyal, big-hearted man - a true teddy bear who fiercely loved his family, friends, and fought valiantly until the very end.

In his earlier years, Joe found happiness outdoors - boating, fishing, four-wheeling, hunting, and enjoying all kinds of wilderness adventures. He loved to cook, He loved to read, he loved good pizza, and he loved the Yankees! He especially cherished the time spent with his family and friends at their lakeside cottage on Highland Lake in Connecticut, passing on his love of nature and water to his children, encouraging them to embrace the same passions.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Linda Brandl; his daughter, Tarryn Wilkerson, and son-in-law Sean Wilkerson, and their children Westyn, Kellan, and Emryn of Milford, NH; his son, Brett Brandl, and his sons Conner and Calix of Henniker, NH; and his daughter, Kaylea Mailhot, and son-in-law Ben Mailhot, and their sons Cohen and Dylan also of Henniker, NH; He also leaves behind his sister, Carole Golitko, and brother-in-law (and lifelong friend) Bob Golitko of Wallingford, CT, and their grown children. As well as countless life long friends who meant the world to him.

He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Barbara Brandl, his sister, Barbara Brandl, and his beloved canine best friend, Mossy.

Joe's presence was a gift - one felt deeply by all who knew and loved him. His passing leaves an immense void, but his spirit, stories, and love will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.

Fair winds and following seas, Joe. You will be deeply missed and loved forever and always.

Joe wished for a simple intimate farewell so no services are planned for this time. Joe held a special place in his heart for all canine companions. The family requests that any donations that wish to be made in Joe's memory to Paws of Dale Hollow, a rescue organization run by a friend, that was especially dear to him. So sorry to hear this news. Totally enjoyed the too few times we three Garfield alums would get together here in NH and reminisce. My sincerest condolences to his family who I know was the center of Joe's life.
Rest in peace old friend!
