Joseph Humphrey Braxton, 82 of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2024.
Born on September 6, 1942, in Wilson County, NC, he was the son of the late Carrie Mae (Humphrey) Braxton and James Turner Braxton.
Joe enlisted in the United States Navy in 1960 at age 17 and served for 23 years. He went to Vietnam in 1965 and served on 5 submarines. He retired from the Navy in 1983 and worked as a network engineer, retiring in 2014.
Joseph is preceded in death by his parents, Carrie Mae and James Turner Braxton.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 58 years, Christine G. (Akins) Braxton; daughter, Holly Goff and son in law James Goff; son, Michael Braxton.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral and Cremation - James Island, 347 Folly Road, Charleston, SC 29412.
The Graveside Service with military honors, will be held following the visitation at 12:30 PM, at Holy Cross Cemetery, 604 Fort Johnson Road, Charleston, SC 29412.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Joseph.
