Joseph Walter Buczek, 90, of Brookfield, CT, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born on March 21, 1935, in New Milford, CT, he was the son of the late Joseph Buczek and Stella (Ozerhauski) Buczek.
Joseph was a devoted husband, father, and friend who lived a life marked by hard work, loyalty, and generosity. He married the love of his life, Barbara (Puskarczyk) Buczek, in 1956, and together they built a life centered on faith, family and love. They welcomed their daughter, Cynthia Buczek, in 1957, and their son David in 1963.
From 1961 to 1963, Joseph proudly served in the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge, he began a long career with the Kimberly-Clark Corporation, briefly working at Boqic Marine before returning to Kimberly-Clark, where he remained until his retirement in 1996.
Joseph was a man of many talents and passions. He was a skilled woodworker and furniture builder, an avid fisherman, and a dedicated gardener. He had a lifelong love for tractors and enthusiastically enjoyed tractor pulls. Above all, he was a man who gave of himself freely, always ready to lend a helping hand to neighbors, friends, and anyone in need.
He was a deeply caring father, providing loving care for his handicapped son David until his passing at age 56. Joseph's quiet strength, steady presence, and unwavering devotion to his family will be remembered always.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Barbara Buczek, his daughter Cynthia, and many extended family members, friends, and neighbors who will miss him dearly.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 18, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Brookfield Funeral Home at 786 Federal Rd, Brookfield, CT 06804.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church in Brookfield. Interment will follow at St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
