Joseph Wayne Carson, known as Joe to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025, in Topeka, Kansas. Born on January 31, 1940, in Fort Scott, KS, Joe was the son of Mary Etta Perkins and Harmon Edwin Carson. He is survived by his loving children: William Carson, Ronald Carson, Troy Carson, Theresa Garcia, and Sheila Belcher and was preceded in death by his daughter Krista Mabbott. Joe's life was marked by a spirit of adventure and a sense of humor that brought laughter to all who knew him.
Joe proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy. Joe's dedication to his country was a defining characteristic that he carried throughout his life. Upon returning to civilian life, Joe pursued a career that allowed him to stay close to the values of hard work.
After completing his degree at Pittsburg State University, he worked as a substitute shop teacher.
Joe's interests were as vibrant and diverse as his personality. As an amateur magician, he delighted in performing tricks and illusions for both young and old. His love for singing karaoke was well-known, often being the life of the party and encouraging others to join in the fun. His love for sports was unparalleled, with a particular passion for the Denver Broncos and Joe could often be found cheering on his favorite team.
A man of simple pleasures, Joe relished watching old TV shows, with "Gunsmoke" being among his favorites.
Above all, Joe was funny. Joe's laughter was a gift that he freely gave, and it is that laughter that will echo in the hearts of those who loved him.
As we remember Joseph Wayne Carson, we celebrate a life lived with joy, a life of service and laughter, and a life that left a lasting mark on the many lives he touched. Though he may have left this world, his legacy of laughter & love of his country will remain forever.
Cremation has taken place. Joe was laid to rest at the Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS.
