Joseph went to school at West Milford in New Jersey, where after in 1985 he joined the United States Navy, and spent three years dutifully serving his country.
Joseph was a devoted family member and friend, known for a warm heart, a generous spirit, and a love for life's simple joys. A passionate cook, he found joy in sharing meals with loved ones and creating dishes that brought people together.
Time spent with family was what Joseph cherished most. Whether it was a quiet evening at home or a big holiday gathering, his greatest happiness came from the people closest to him.
He also had a natural talent for working on vehicles - a skill honed over the years and often shared with others in need. There was always a project in the garage and a willingness to help a friend or neighbor get back on the road.
A lover of travel, he made it a mission to explore the United States, visiting every state except Montana. Florida held a special place in his heart and was a favorite destination for rest and sunshine.
He is survived by his Partner; Loretta Wilhelm of Jefferson City, MO, Sons; J.J Ciavarella of Brooksville FL, Vincenzo Ciavarella, of Jefferson City, MO, and Daemond Wright of Jefferson City, Mo, Daughters; McCaila Wright of Jefferson City, MO, Calleigh Wright of Jefferson City, MO, Father-in-law; Harold Wilhelm, Sister; Loretta Snyder (Robert Faby) of Brooksville, FL, Sister-in-Law, Jessica Stanley (Matt) of Jefferson City, MO.
Friends and Family will be received from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Tuesday September 9, 2025 at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors 2613 W. Main St.; Jefferson City, MO 65109
In Lieu of flowers, expression of sympathy can be made to the Jefferson City Honor Flight.
