Gary Steven Slucher, 74, of Holts Summit, passed away at home on Sunday, August 31, 2025.

He was born May 9, 1951, in Louisville, Kentucky, the son of the late Herbert Charles Slucher and Betty Jean (Blair) Slucher. Gary graduated from Fern Creek High School in Louisville. He was married to his beloved wife, Carol Slucher, for 38 years, and together they built a life filled with love and laughter.

He worked as Chief Canteen Supervisor at the VA Medical Center in Columbia, Missouri, until his retirement in 2012.

Gary was a devoted fan of the University of Kentucky basketball and had a lifelong love for music, especially The Beatles. He also enjoyed fishing, baseball card collecting, and, above all, time spent with his family.

Gary is survived by his loving wife, Carol; daughter, Jill Barnhart (Aaron); son, Joshua Slucher (April); sister, Jan Allspaw (Steve); grandchildren, Cody, David, Rebecca Justis (Jason), Allison Ambler (Easton), and Tucker Barnhart; great-grandchildren, Eli, Emma, and Ella Justis; and his faithful dog, Zeb.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his uncle, Jeff Slucher.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Jefferson City Animal Shelter.

Arrangements are under the direction of HOUSER-MILLARD Funeral Directors, 2613 W. Main St., Jefferson City, MO 65109. (573) 636-3838. Condolences may be left for the family online at www.millardfamilychapels.com
