Joseph Cicala, 74 of Bluffton, SC, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at his residence in Bluffton.
Joseph was an Army Veteran and longtime working member of the local 72 printing company. Joe served his country in the United States Army from April 28,1972 until September 29, 1976. After his military service, Joe worked for a printing company. He also served as a boat mate for a local charter fishing company. On the side, Joe enjoyed providing lumber for locals.
Joe loved and lived by the Chesapeake Bay Maryland area for many years before moving to Bluffton, SC to be with his daughter. He had a special liking for sitting on the porch on warm spring and summer days where he would drink his many cups of coffee, and soak in the sun for hours at a time. He also had a deep passion for collecting hats, knives, ships/boats, lighthouses, and many other nautical items. After moving to Bluffton, Joe developed a true passion for thrifting at the many local thrift shops with his daughter Tia. These thrift shop adventures were where he found many of the collectibles that he kept all around the house.
He is survived by: his daughters: Tia Cicala/Bandavanis and her boyfriend Avery Wiggins, Trissa and husband Dan Hill; grandsons: John Bandavanis, Ryan Hill, and Nicholas Hill; sister: Nicole (Troy) Nicholson and family; cousins: Vicki Cicala, Kevin Cicala, and Paula Grabau-Friedt; two aunts: Barbra Cicala and Mary Stewart; one uncle, Patrick Ciatto and his girlfriend: Veronica Green.
He is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Cicala, his Uncles: Frank, Anthony, Michael Cicala, Paul Ciatto and Aunts: Rosie Cater, Annie Worth and Donna Shermoen; his grandparents were Michael and Josephine Cicala of Washington, D.C.
Joe will be remembered for his passionate collections, kindness and at times stubbornness! Many beautiful memories to hold onto by many of us.
