Joann Cicala, a cherished and devoted wife and mother passed away peacefully on January 7, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on December 27, 1950, in Flushing, Queens, NY, Joann was the beloved daughter of the late Adolf and Sarah Lee (nee Bannon).
She was the loving wife of Dominick Cicala and together they raised two children, Nicole (Jeffery) Iannuzzelli and Daniel Cicala, who were the light of her life. Joann's love extended to her sister, Maggie Colon, her niece Angelina Kapellusch, her nephew Dan Colon, and great-niece Sabrina Colon. Joann was predeceased by her sister Mary Lee and nephew Louis Colon.
Growing up in Coney Island, Joann was a proud graduate of Clara Barton High School. She furthered her education at the Lyons Institute for Certified Medical Education in Hackensack, NJ. Joann traveled across the country with her dear friends, then began working at Merrill Lynch in Manhattan before meeting Dominick while volunteering on the ambulance squad in Weehawken. They married and moved to Fort Lee. They eventually settled in Toms River after welcoming their two children. Joann's passion for helping others led her to a fulfilling career at Silverton Pharmacy in Toms River, where she was a dedicated employee for over 25 years. Joann and Dominick resided in Barnegat after retirement.
Joann's legacy will continue to inspire and guide us. Her family takes comfort in knowing that her spirit will live on through the countless lives she touched. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to Always and Furever Midwest Animal Sanctuary or the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
Visiting will be Sunday, January 12, 2025 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 7:00 to 9:00 at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home 2482 Church Road, Toms River.
