Joseph A. Cirelli, 95, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 5, 2025. He was born and raised in Longmeadow, where he spent his early years, a son of the late Dominico and Filomena (Ricci) Cirelli. He later moved to the South End of Springfield, where he raised his children. Joe was a proud veteran of the Korean War, serving his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army from 1951-1957. In 1960, along with his wife Peggy, Joe opened and operated Cirelli Oil, where they worked alongside each other for over 42 years. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed playing bocce, watching horse racing, taking trips to the casino, but most of all, he cherished spending time with his family. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 60 years, Carmel "Peggy" (Fusco) Cirelli; his brothers, Angelo, Vincent, and Louis; and his sister, Ann Mazza. He will be deeply missed by his daughters, Teresa "Teri" Scibelli and her husband John of Agawam, and Diane Barclay and her husband Jack of Waterford, CT; his four grandchildren, Vanessa Galluzzo and Ethan Murray, Amanda Fazio and her husband Aldo, Damian Millas and his wife Sara, and Jason Millas and his wife Jenn; and his six great-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Samantha, Talia, Gino, Brooklyn, and Charlotte; as well as numerous other loving relatives and friends. His family would like to extend a special thank you to the aides and staff at Heritage Woods. Visiting Hours will be held on Sunday, July 13, 2025 from 2pm-4pm at Colonial Forastiere Funeral and Cremation, 985 Main St., Agawam, MA. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, July 14, 2025 beginning at 8:45AM at Colonial Forastiere followed by a liturgy of Christian burial 10AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 123 Williams St., Springfield. Entombment and Military honors will follow at St. Michael's Mausoleum, State St, Springfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Joe's name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
