Joseph Thomas "Joe" Class
March 25, 1981 – January 13, 2025
Joseph Thomas "Joe" Class was called into the waiting arms of his Creator on January 13, 2025. While his departure came suddenly and far too soon, we find solace in knowing that he passed peacefully in his sleep, free from pain or worry.
Joe's greatest joy was music, and his most treasured possession was his guitar.
We invite you to pay tribute to his memory by listening to your favorite song, singing loudly, playing air guitar, clapping along, or simply sitting and soaking it in. Joe created a YouTube channel for his children, Epiphonic Resonance (www.youtube.com/@epiphonicresonance), and they proudly share it here. Let him serenade you. We offer you a sample of the songs he always played and sang to us – some originals, some classics. If a piece moves you, pass it along in his honor. We find comfort in knowing that his music will forever echo within us.
Born on March 25, 1981, Joe was the only child of Tom and Shari Class. They raised a son whose creative mind, quick wit, and generous spirit touched the lives of everyone he met. His natural curiosity and boundless skill were evident in everything he touched-whether playing any musical instrument that crossed his path or tackling a fix-it project that no one else could resolve. Joe shared his gifts freely with all who cared to receive them, never seeking recognition or compensation in return.
In 1999, Joe met the love of his life, Anna, on their first day at Seattle Pacific University. Their connection was immediate, and after five years of growing together, they were married at Mahtowa Covenant Church. While in Western Washington, Joe and Anna were blessed by the births of three beautiful children. Joe worked there for some time as a Systems Administrator before discovering his true calling as a licensed hypnotherapist, where he could help others find healing and clarity on their personal journeys.
In 2020, Joe and Anna relocated their family to Mahtowa, Minnesota. Here he served his community through music and technical work at Mahtowa Covenant Church. He also enjoyed spending quiet afternoons volunteering at the local used bookstore, Twice Told Tales.
Joe is deeply missed by his beloved wife, Anna; his children, Emily, Julian, and Jackson; his father, Tom; his in-laws, Teri and Ev; and a wide circle of extended family and friends. His legacy of kindness, humor, musicality, creativity, and love lives on in our hearts.
As Joe was a private man by nature, and in keeping with his wishes, there will be no public visitation or funeral service. In lieu of flowers or food, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice that supports mental health or music therapy services.
