Joseph Landon Coleman, of Superior, Colorado, passed away on February 4, 2026, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 59.

Joe was born April 1, 1966, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Walter and Ann Coleman. His childhood was shaped by an unusual global upbringing. In 1968, his family moved to Perth, Western Australia, and in 1972 relocated to Rumbai, Sumatra, Indonesia, where Joe spent much of his youth immersed in jungle life—an experience that fostered his lifelong curiosity, resilience, and sense of adventure.

Determined to play American football, Joe attended the Lawrenceville School in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, for his first two years of high school. He later transferred to the American School in London, England, for his junior and senior years, where he discovered a deep and enduring love for rugby.

In 1984, Joe began his studies at the University of Colorado, where he played rugby and set records that still stand today. After graduating, he spent a brief time in Washington, D.C., before continuing his education at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. In 1996, he earned a Master of Arts in Southeast Asian Studies.

Joe ultimately returned to the Boulder area, where he raised his family and built a distinguished professional career. He spent most of his working life in commercial banking and, for more than 20 years, worked at JPMorgan Chase, where he received numerous awards recognizing his excellence, leadership, and integrity.

Beyond his career, Joe was defined by his passions. He was devoted to his children and loved rugby, golf, skiing, reading, and studying World War II history. He cultivated friendships across every chapter of his life—across countries, careers, and decades—and was known for his intellect, warmth, loyalty, and generous spirit.

Joe married Annie Zrubek in August 2024. Together, they shared a deep partnership grounded in love and mutual respect.

He is survived by his wife, Annie Zrubek; his children, Landon Coleman (Seari MacMillan), Molly Coleman, and Joey Coleman, all of Superior, Colorado; his parents, Walter and Ann Coleman; his brothers, Clint Coleman (Clare) and Bill Coleman; his sister, Lisa Coleman; his stepdaughters, Torey Zrubek and Tatum Zrubek; his nephews, Matthew Hendrickson (Lyla Summa) and Sean Coleman; and a wide circle of friends who will miss him dearly.

Joe’s life was marked by curiosity, achievement, and connection. He will be remembered as a devoted husband and father, a loyal friend, a fierce competitor, and a man who truly lived broadly and deeply.
