Dwight N. Noyes age 84, of De Pere, WI, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026 at his home.
He was born on December 17, 1941 in Wayne City, IN, son of the late Elmer and Mary (Nethers) Noyes. On April 20, 1963, he married Diane Bitter in Oshkosh, WI, Dwight always said he would have done nothing with his life if it were not for his wonderful soulmate and wife, Diane. She was his “lighthouse”. Dwight and Diane are waiting for their best friends Keith, Kari, Kris and Kim his children and three grandchildren Spencer, Matthew, Brad and Elijah; his great grandson, where they will be together again.
Dwight was an outgoing, friendly man with a wonderful sense of humor, and very quick wit who made friends easily. He was a servant leader with little interest in fame and fortune; his main concern was helping others. He was tested as a young lad and was deemed a person who had a gift of total recall.
Dwight was elected at his church as a substitute for the minister from 1956 to 1959 giving sermons. He was noted for wearing a purple shirt during those services.
As a young boy, he could be seen pushing his little beat-up wagon around the backwoods of Southern Tennessee full of loaves of week-old Wonder bread to sell and later moving many lawns with his little push 18-inch beat-up lawnmower. Dwight was Emancipated at 16 and worked at an orchard and small store. He graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1959 and one day went down to UW-Madison and went into a big building and told the folks that he was going to school there! He had no paperwork and the secretary directed him to an office with a gentleman who asked him if he had his paperwork and Dwight said no, so the gentleman helped fill out the paperwork.
It turned out he was President of the University. He directed Dwight to be admitted, and he started his education life which he was still pursuing until he passed away. Dwight had no money, so Dr. Elvehjem paid!
Later, Dwight left Madison and entered the United States Air Force and later received his bachelor’s from UW-Stout and attended numerous colleges, such as the University of Heidelberg, University of Maryland, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and UW-Green Bay. He received graduate degrees in Finance and Leadership all with a 4.0 average. While at Wisconsin, he was on the boxing team (1960) and Air Force ROTC. Dwight was there the night Charlie Mohr, the boxer was injured and later passed away.
For many years, Dwight and Diane, his wife, owned and operated 5 successful businesses in Northeast Wisconsin, and then as Dwight would say, “I died and went to heaven”-by starting a career in teaching at Northeast Wisconsin Technical Institute from 1979-2007 full and part-time teaching in business and finance, where he was known for being caring and giving his all to the students, many of whom have had very successful careers. He authored a textbook used in the paralegal program at NWTC and several other colleges.
Throughout his life, Dwight was first in line to help those he could. He was always there to help students, relatives, friends, and his beloved family. He was a Volunteer in Probation, helping young people find the road to a better life; in the Kiwanis, he helped Rawhide in its beginning with fund raisers, and as scoutmaster of the military base Scouts in Germany. As was his custom, he asked nothing in return.
As a giving leader, Dwight was President of Northwest Wisconsin Technician’s union, Chairman of the Instructors Council at NWTC, and on the bargaining team for years. Dwight was also the Chairman of The Board at 1st Security Credit Union. He was awarded the designation of Certified Consumer Credit Man in the World. He was certified by the United States Department to teach Middle East students as an outreach to improve international relations.
He proudly served in the United States Air Force in Nuclear armature of B-52’s from 1960-1064, receiving top ratings by the commanders for his work as liaison during the “Cuban Crisis” keeping 64 B-52’s in air on their way to Cuba Through the northern tier.
