New Orleans: Joseph Melton Cormier, affectionately known as Raymond, was born on November 18, 1938, in Youngsville, Louisiana, to Milton Cormier and Louella Sion. He departed from this world on September 24, 2025.
At the age of 15, Joseph moved to Carencro to live with his cousin, Gilbert Sion Sr., embarking on a journey characterized by resilience, love, and dedication. Throughout his life, he held various jobs, consistently working hard to support his loved ones.
It was at a church dance in Bellevue, Louisiana, that he met Joyce Anderson, the love of his life. Their relationship blossomed over the years, culminating in a marriage that became the cornerstone of his existence. With Joyce's encouragement, Joseph took a bold step and began his career at Catus Pipe, later dedicating two decades to Gold Rus. When the oilfield industry faced challenges, he found stability with Waste Management, where he ultimately retired.
Joseph is fondly remembered by his daughters, Angelina Guidry and Linda Cormier; his grandchildren, Desiree Hebert, Peter Guidry Jr. III (Jerrica), Troy Cormier, Jeanne Cormier, and Bryan Guidry; and his great-grandchildren, Myles Guidry, Cameron Etienne, Colin Boutte, Khalliyah Cormier, Kheriss Cormier, and Kheress Cormier. He is also survived by many beloved sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Joyce Anderson Cormier; his parents, Louella Sion Jones and Milton Cormier; as well as numerous siblings, nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.
Joseph's life stands as a testament to perseverance, love, and family. His memory will forever reside in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
