Met Joe in Boulder, Colorado a year ago. He befriended me on a Friday evening at an event, and on Saturday morning, we were running a 5 Mile trail at 5:00 AM in the morning. What a great human being. Miss you brother.

I'm now treasuring the last time I saw Joe: We were together at a conference of the USDC-ND California. We got to have dinner, hang out, and swap funny stories. Smart, kind, thoughtful, challenging: I am a better person for meeting him in law school, being adjunct professors, and just having a glimpse into how he relished life. My deep condolences to his family and all who called him friend.

What a shock to lose Joe .
I knew him as a dedicated volunteer with the Sutro Stewards Trail crew , and as a lively member of our weekly Bocce meet at the Stanyan Street GGPark Courts .
His good humour , sweet exuberance, snappy athletic outfits and warm intelligence are qualities we will always remember.
Joe , we miss you !

Joe was one of the finest humans I have known. And he was a sharp and generous lawyer. I never knew that he was a touring heavy metal guitarist!
I will miss him.

So very sorry to learn of Joe's untimely passing. He was thoughtful, kind man who was taken far too soon. My thoughts are with his family and his many friends.

Joe was one of my favorite people that I never met, in real life. He was unfailingly kind, devastatingly funny, and a voice of reason that I always appreciated. I always loved seeing his "good morning San Francisco" photos and very much enjoyed his infectious joie de vivre. He was a wonderful friend.
His loss will be long felt and my thoughts are with his family.

There were so many things that Joe was passionate about. No list could do it justice. We hiked hundreds of miles together and never ran out of conversation. I´ll miss him more than anyone knows.
