Joseph Jay Crispen

Joseph Jay Crispen, born October 27, 1959, in Norfolk, Virginia, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2025, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, at the age of 65.

Joseph dedicated his life to his work as a construction supervisor and maintenance man, serving his community with diligence and integrity. Known for his hard work and reliability, he poured his skills into every project, including building his parents' home in Corapeake, North Carolina. Outside of work, Joseph found joy in tending his garden, proudly growing tomatoes and cucumbers each year. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman, a passionate NASCAR fan, and a loyal supporter of the Washington Commanders.

Joseph is preceded in death by his father, George Irwin Crispen, and by his beloved dog, Delilah. He is survived by his devoted mother, Sara James Crispen, and his beloved wife of 30 years, Kimberly Buse Crispen. He will be deeply missed by his children, Caroline Smith and her husband, Samuel, and Cole Crispen; his brother, Daniel Crispen; and his cherished grandchildren, Rhett and Beau.

A celebration of Joseph's life will be held on Saturday, October 11, at 11:00 a.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Homes – Maestas Chapel, 1801 Baltic Ave., Virginia Beach.
