Our Joseph died unexpectedly on March 5, 2026, at his home in rural Hope, MI. He was born on September 21, 1978, in Bay City, MI. He graduated from Au Gres Sims High School in 1997 and after a year at Lake State University and an Associate's Degree from Delta University, four years of summers in Alaska working as a fly-fishing guide and winters at Frank's Great Outdoors, he began a long career at Cabela's. Since 2018 he has been the Marketing Manager for Scientific Angler in Midland, Michigan, traveling all over the country supervising trade shows and building his fly-fishing network. He leaves behind his parents, David and Norah Wolthuis on Au Gres, his brother John from San Fransisco, and his dear friends, who lit up his life, Kerri Blues and her son Leif Samuel of Bay City, Michigan. He loved his various uncles, aunts, and cousins who in turn loved him back. A highlight of his career in the last year or so was a fishing trip on the Amazon with fellow fly fisherman - a special breed. God speed, Joe.
A memorial will be held at a later date. You may offer an online condolence at www.bureshfuneralhomes.com.

Dear David and Norah
Just found out today from Christina about Joe. Janet and I are just shocked. Joe spent alot of time at the house with the kids. They let him pick the movie one night and he picked "Tank Girl". We still laugh about that as they all picked on Joe over that.
If there is anything we can do please let us know. If you\get to Kentucky, please stop in as this is out permanent home now.
Thinking of you.
