Joseph Dean

Joseph Calvin Dean, Sr.,73, of Williamsburg, Va., passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by loving family on January 7, 2025. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Calvin and Victoria Dean; brother Eddie Dean; sister Carolyn Dean; and grandson, James Adam Williams. He is survived by his sons, Joseph C. Dean, Jr. and Raymond Williams (Tonya); grandchildren, Raymond "Raymie" Williams III, and Joshua Williams. He is also survived by his beloved sisters, Jessie Hilstrom (Author), Mary Lou Dean, and Zula Dean; his brothers, Tommy King (Dot), John Dean (Linda), and Phillip Dean. Joseph is also loved by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Joseph spent his career as a Heavy Equipment Operator, a role in which he took immense pride and skillfully performed throughout his life. His work was not just a means of livelihood but a testament to his strong work ethic. Joseph's true passions, however, lay in the simple joys of life. He found great pleasure in fishing, camping, and observing the beauty of the outdoors. Whether watching squirrels and birds or spending time surrounded by nature, Joseph had an appreciation for the world around him. Joseph's kindness and sense of humor were known to brighten the lives of those around him. During his time at Branscome Inc., he was fondly remembered for painting large stones with smiley faces and placing them in various spots to bring happiness to everyone's day. This thoughtful gesture earned him the nickname "Happy Happy," a fitting tribute to a man who brought laughter to others. He will be greatly missed.
