Joseph A. Delbrugge, 74, of St. Clairsville, was called home to eternal glory on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Cumberland Pointe Nursing home. Born on January 3, 1952, in
Martins Ferry, Ohio, he was the blessed son of the late James J. Delbrugge and Eva J. Delbrugge, who instilled in him the values of hard work, a zest for life and an unwavering faith in Jesus Christ.
During his vibrant young adult years, Joseph worked as a skilled glass finisher for Imperial Glass of Bellaire, crafting glassware that brought joy to all who beheld it. Following the factory's closure, Joseph went on to work at Ormet in a role that brought him satisfaction for several years. However, Joseph's true calling was as a self-entrepreneur, leveraging his remarkable gift for connecting with others and building lasting relationships, which enabled him to travel extensively throughout the country, spreading joy and making lifelong friends in his traveling security role.
In addition to his passion for travel, Joseph delighted in fishing, often exploring lakes, ponds, and rivers with his brother Tom in pursuit of the perfect catch. He was a gifted handyman, generously offering his services to friends and family, and in his younger years, he was a vintage car enthusiast, owning cars that turned heads wherever he went. Joe cherished animals and children; they gravitated towards Joe as they sensed his zest for life. Above all, Joseph was cherished for his quick wit, infectious sense of humor, and radiant smile, which endeared him to everyone he met.
In addition to his father and mother, Joe was also preceded in death by his infant son Michael, and sisters Catherine Delbrugge and Christina Kull.
Joseph leaves behind his daughter Tiffany Collins; grandchildren Ryan, Alaina, Adessa, Kyler of Shadyside, and Eric (Melanie) Delbrugge, grandchildren Katheryn and Evan of Akron, OH; siblings Thomas Delbrugge of St. Clairville; brother-in-law Gary Kull of Live Oak, FL; Twila (Craig) of Morgantown, WV; Nancy (Rick) Chilcote of Hicksville, OH; and Jennifer Stanley (Danny) of Moundsville, also many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Care Funeral & Cremation Specialists, located at 204 West Main Street, St. Clairsville, from 11am to 1pm, with a service to follow at 1pm. A reception will take place following the service at the funeral home, where those who knew Joe are invited to gather in remembrance.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Belmont County Animal Shelter, reflecting Joe's love and compassion for animals.
May Joe rest in peace, knowing he was cherished by many.
