Joseph DeMercurio Obituary

DeMercurio, Joseph S.
COLONIE - Joseph S. DeMercurio, age 80, of Albany, N.Y., passed away on August 7, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born on June 15, 1945, in Albany, N.Y., he was the son of the late Joseph J. and Alice A. (Reichert) DeMercurio. Joseph was a proud graduate of Colonie Central High School (Class of 1964) and attended RPI (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute).
Joseph had a love for life and enjoyed many activities in his earlier years, including fishing, racquetball, bowling, and golf. He was also an avid fan of football, baseball, and horse racing. Above all, Joseph cherished spending time with his family, especially his beloved wife, Judy, whom he married in 1967. They shared 58 wonderful years of marriage, creating countless memories together. The two shared a deep love for travel, enjoying annual cruises and family vacations to Wildwood, N.J., where they loved spending time at the beach and boardwalk with their family. Joseph was also known for his unwavering support and enthusiasm for his grandchildren, attending many of their sporting events, where his presence was always a source of encouragement and joy.
Joseph proudly served in the National Guard from 1967 to 1973, and later became a successful business owner. He ran Dar-J Wholesale alongside his son, Joseph, where they traveled to fairs and specialty events to sell the world's best jerky.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife, Judith K. (Bard) DeMercurio; his son, Joseph J. DeMercurio; daughter-in-law, Lori L. (Dachenhausen) DeMercurio; son, James M. DeMercurio; daughter-in-law, Jennifer (Finch) DeMercurio; and daughter, Julie A. (DeMercurio) Carlino; and son-in-law, Joseph Carlino. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Adrianna DeMercurio, Victoria DeMercurio, Brennan DeMercurio, Nina DeMercurio, Evan DeMercurio, Gianna Carlino and James Carlino.
Joseph was the beloved brother of Nancy Comiskey; and the predeceased Maria Goliber and Genevieve Lucarelli.
He was known for his constant smile, which was so contagious that it brightened every room he entered. Joseph's family, friends, and all who knew him will remember him for his kindness, generosity, and love of life.
