Obituary of Joseph A. DiGiovanni
Joseph A. DiGiovanni
1944 - 2025
Joseph A. DiGiovanni, 81, of
Conshohocken, PA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.
He was born in Philadelphia, PA on March 8, 1944, the son of the late Joseph N. and the late Mary (Zawislak) DiGiovanni.
Joe lived in
Conshohocken, PA for the last 27 years, formerly of Roxborough, and born and raised in the East Falls section of Philadelphia. He was a member of St. Matthew's Church. He worked as a Crane Operator with Operating Engineers Local 542, after retiring he worked at Cathedral Village.
Joseph was the beloved husband of Valerie (Sobon) DiGiovanni. He is survived by his wife, Valerie, and children, Joseph (Nannette) DiGiovanni, Jr., Daniela (Daniel) Pellicciotti, Gina (Robert) Stansfield, Amy (Adam) Owad, Angela (David) Brotschul, Andrea (John Pieczynski) DiGiovanni, Krista (Tim) Spence, and Michael (Lisa) DeLone. He cherished his 17 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Eileen (the late Thomas) McLaughlin, Angelo (Peggy) DiGiovanni, Donna (Michael) Livingston, and Gerald (Margie) DiGiovanni.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Eileen (Hoban) DiGiovanni.
Joe was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, brother-in-law, and father figure whose presence shaped the lives of all who knew him. Joe's love for his family was unwavering. It was shown in his devotion, his steady commitment, and the countless hours he spent offering guidance, mentoring, or simply sitting around the table with the people he cherished most.
Joe approached life with a spirit that was both positive and confident. His life was filled with service through the Church, bingo, community activities, the Italian Club, and both coaching and refereeing. He was the ultimate utility man, reliable, steady, and ready to step into any role. Joe was a true giver at heart. He offered whatever was needed, often before anyone even asked. Whether someone needed advice or help preparing for a party, wedding, birthday, or any major milestone, Joe showed up without hesitation. He was the one you could always count on, the one who showed up, the one who got things done.

Sports were one of Joe's great joys. He excelled in football, basketball, baseball, and softball, earning recognition for his impressive .459 batting average and being named the league's best player. His coach once said, "Whenever we needed a jumpstart, a great play, or that clutch hit, Joe was his man." Joe brought that same tenacity and heart to every part of his life. He could do anything he set his mind to, and he loved sharing stories about the teams he played on. He treasured afternoons spent golfing with friends or exchanging playful banter during card games. He loved going to the casino, trying his luck with scratch offs and teaching his grandkids the fun of spinning quarters.
Joe taught by example: how to show kindness, how to work hard, how to love deeply, how to grieve honestly, how to be independent, how to play cards, and even how to balance a checkbook. His lessons live on in the hearts of all he touched. Everyone who knew Joe loved him, and even those outside his family hoped to be one of his closest friends. He made people feel welcome, valued, and understood. They say you don't really know a man until you walk in his shoes, how lucky we'd be to walk in Joe's for just one more day. He will be missed more than words can express, but his impact will last forever.
