A Funeral Service for Joe Ehlen of Donnelly will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Donnelly, with Reverend Rochelle Anderson officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Morris.
Joseph “Joe” Wayne Ehlen was born on November 7, 1960 in Morris, Minnesota the son of Glenn and Elrene (Thompson) Ehlen. He grew up on a farm in Swan Lake Township, Stevens County and attended Morris Area Schools.
Joe began his 45-year career working at the grain elevator for CHS / New Horizons beginning in Donnelly. When the elevator in Donnelly closed, he transferred to the elevator in Herman where he finished out his career.
He enjoyed his farm and cattle. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Donnelly and former member of the Donnelly Fire Department and First Responders. Joe loved helping people. He was known to leave work to go help someone in need.
Joe died Monday, July 28, 2025, at his home in Donnelly. He was 64 years old.
Survivors include his mother, Elrene Rosell of Duluth; brother, Jim Ehlen of Alberta; sisters, Barb Fay of Willmar, Laurie Driggins of Norwood Young America and Deb (Jerry) Sinnott of Esko and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Ehlen; brother, Jeff “Spiffy” Ehlen; nephew, Jeremy Pavlicek and step-father, Alden Rosell.
The Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in care of the arrangements for Joe.
