Joseph "Joe" Evers, a beloved father and grandfather with one of the best smiles around peacefully passed away at his home in Harrison on June 28, 2025, at the age of 83, on what would have been his 56th wedding anniversary. Joe will be remembered for his unwavering devotion not only to his late wife, Charlotte Ann (nee Cochran) Evers, but also to his family and friends.
Joe is survived by his loving children: Jim Evers, Jeannie Earehart, and Lisa Evers as well as his cherished grandchildren, Kaila, Karlie, and Dylon Earehart. He is also fondly remembered by his brother John (Denise) Evers, sister Julie (Ken Beatty) Huth, and sister-in-law Merilew Evers. Joe was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Charlotte; his parents Frank and Mary (nee Hoffman); and his brother Mike (Merilew) Evers.
A proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, Joe had a deep love for his country and enjoyed sharing stories of his service with children. He spent his days immersed in the things he cherished most: golfing, playing horseshoes, strumming the guitar and playing piano, and enjoying jazz music. Nights around the fire pit with family and friends, a cold Yuengling or a glass of Evan Williams bourbon in hand, brought him the greatest joy. He had a love of fishing and enjoyed the family trips to Lake St. Claire with John and grandson Dylon. Joe was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 2633, where he once served as Grand Knight, and he had a special affinity for classic films, especially Saturday night Svengoolie with his family.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Joe's life during a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be held on July 8, 2025, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, located at 10010 Carolina Trace Rd. The service will begin at 10 AM, with a private burial to follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial contributions to Tunnel to Towers or a charity of your choice. A representative from the funeral home will be available to assist with memorial arrangements before and after the mass.
As we gather to remember Joe, we will reflect on his generous spirit, his love for family, and the laughter shared around the fire pit. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
