Joseph Killens Ferguson, "Joe" to his friends, passed away on February 28, 2023 in Bellingham, Washington at the age of 86. Joe was born on January 30, 1937 in Lancaster, PA to parents Harry and Eva Ferguson. He graduated from Hersey Industrial School in 1954.
He went on to become a Regional Manager for the ILGWU and worked hard to protect the rights of workers in the garment industry. Joe was part of the Richland Township volunteer fire department where he drove ambulance and was campaign chairman for a winning US Congressman.
In his free time, Joe was an avid outdoorsman. He loved long trips camping all over the US and Canada. He always found time to circle back to family for special events. This was not an easy task as family were spread out in Pennsylvania, Georgia, Alberta, and British Columbia. He especially enjoyed watching his grandson play varsity basketball and football.
Joe was an active and devoted member of the Wackie Walkers in Point Roberts, WA, a senior group dedicated to staying healthy, raising monies for good causes, and enjoying social gatherings. Joe will be missed in the Point Roberts community.
As a family we will fondly cherish our vacation memories to Unity House in the Poconos, New York City, and camping trips to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. We will miss his unique sense of humor, artistic talents, and his iron will to fight through adversity.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers and sisters. He is survived by his four children, Jeffrey Ferguson, Timothy (Diane) Ferguson, Vicki Joe Navratil, and Douglas Ferguson, and three grandchildren, Jack, Logan, and Dylan.
