Joseph Floss Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Thomas-Little Funeral Service Inc. and Crematory - Oakdale on Jan. 8, 2026.
Joseph W. Floss, 80, of Oakdale, South Fayette Township, passed away in peace and comfort while surrounded by his wife of 52 years, daughter and granddaughter on the evening of Tuesday, January 6, 2026.
Joe was born on August 14, 1945 in Pittsburgh, PA a son of the late William "Hank" and Margaret Ballo Floss.
Joe was a proud Veteran of the United States Air Force. After his service, he completed training at the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics and worked as an airline mechanic until retiring. Earlier in life, he enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and fishing, target shooting and playing guitar in several bands which is how he met his wife - after winking at her during a performance, the next 56 years became their beautiful history full of love and a lot of laughter. More recently, Joe enjoyed spending time in the home he and his wife built and raised their only daughter in. A good day was a quiet day enjoying the view of a fresh cut yard on the back porch with a cold beer. Joe was a quiet man; his love was big and not expressed with words but actions. His ability to fix just about anything will be missed. He loved being a proud PapPap to his granddaughter Evelyn for the last seven years and reserved most of his smiles and hugs just for her.
Surviving is his loving wife, Jean (Drew) Floss, daughter, Amanda (Brett) Foley, granddaughter, Evelyn Foley, sister, Kathleen Conroy, sister-in-law Kathleen Petrocco and many cousins, nieces and nephews as well as several close friends who he beloved.
Along with his parents, Joe is preceded in death by his sister, Janet Lewkowicz as well as many close family members that he dearly missed who his family is confident have welcomed him to Heaven with open arms.
All arrangements are private and entrusted to Thomas-Little Funeral Service, Inc. and Crematory, 5000 Noblestown Road, Oakdale (724-693-2800).
