Mr. Joseph E. "Joe" Franklin, Sr., age 80 of Robinson, IL passed away Thursday April 7, 2022, at 1:30 PM at Ridgeview Health and Rehab Center, Oblong, IL, following several months of failing health.
Joe was born in Hutsonville, IL on February 17, 1942, to Emery and Ora (Sanders) Franklin. On August 6, 1972, he married Helene Grace (Black) and she preceded him in death February 18, 2010.Joe served in the U.S. Army and upon returning to home, he found work as an Iron Worker, Local #1, Chicago, IL; he was a member of the Masonic Lodge NMJ of Illinois; VFW #4549, Robinson, IL and E.M. Coulter Post #69, Robinson, IL.
Survivors include sons, Randy J. Franklin, Lexington, SC, Joe Franklin Jr., Robinson, IL; a daughter and son-in-law, Bethany and Daniel Berkley, Morris, IL; five grandchildren, Alyssa Franklin, Zachary Franklin, Marissa Berkley, Cannon Thackrey and Emma Berkley; brother, George "Ike" Franklin, Terre Haute, IN and sister, Cora Weger, Palestine, IL, along with several nieces and nephews, including Martha Hightshoe of Hutsonville, IL.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Helene G. Franklin; brothers, Herbert, Emery, Francis, Earl, Donald, Glen, Arthur "Tom", and sisters, Dorothy, Esther Combee, Elizabeth Benjamin and Euma Osborn.
There will be a Graveside Service held on Sunday April 10, 2022, at 3:00 PM at the Hutsonville Cemetery, Hutsonville, IL with Bro. Joe Griffith officiating. A time of visitation will be held at the Pulliam Funeral Home in Hutsonville, IL from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM.
Memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children with envelopes available at the funeral home.
Military graveside rites will be performed by the combined units of VFW Post #4549, Robinson, IL; E.M. Coulter Post #69, American Legion, Robinson, IL, Reavill Post #132, American Legion, Flat Rock, IL and AMVETS Post #33.
