Joseph Gilbert Gerend, age 75, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on August 30, 2025. He was born on June 17, 1950 in Sheboygan to the late Raymond and Gertrude (Reinl) Gerend.
Joe loved all things Christmas, and loved listening to all sorts of fun holiday songs all year long. Some of his favorites were Frosty the Snow Man and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. He also enjoyed swimming. His family remembers Joe floating carefree in the water at their cottage on Crystal Lake, sometimes going out a bit too far for their comfort! Above all, Joe was very loved and cherished by his family and anyone who had the privilege of knowing him. The world could use more people like Joe.
The family would like to thank his many caregivers at Homes for Independent Living in Sheboygan, and Martin Adult Family Home in Madison for their excellent care.
Joe is survived by his brothers John (Barbara) and Jacob Gerend, and his sister Mary (Larry) Boll. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Joe is preceded in death by his sister-in-law JoEllen Gerend.
