Joseph Gersch

Joseph Charles Gersch, 72 of Delaware and formerly of Lancaster County, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on the evening of Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center after a courageous two year battle with lung cancer.

Joe was born December 5, 1953 in Hatboro, PA, the son of the late Charles A. & Louise Elizabeth (Gerold) Gersch. Joe was a graduate of Hatboro High School. Joe was most proud of working for Neopart LLC where he supervised and managed the parts department for 30 years. It was there that he met the love of his life, Regina (Jean) Vining. After a five year courtship, they tied the knot on September 25, 1991.

When not working, Joe enjoyed being outside working in his garden, planting flowers and shrubs. He was also a gearhead that enjoyed working on older cars, most notably totally rebuilding a 1979 Volkswagen. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle on leisurely drives. Joe and Jean loved traveling! Their most notable trip was to San Diego, California. They both enjoyed their numerous trips to Arizona to enjoy the sun and visit his daughter and extended family. Joe always found time to help others. You could always count on him for advice as well as to lend a helping hand. Joe genuinely loved helping people in need.

Those left to cherish Joe's memory are his loving wife Jean, daughter Amy E. (Jason) Wolfe, son Joseph C. Gersch, grandchildren Spencer Wolfe, Kloe Gersch and Gemma Gersch, nephew Chassey Gersch and supportive canine companion Ivy Luisa. He is also survived by extended family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings Charles and Lisa Gersch, brother-in-laws Gary Lowe and Nelson Vining and nephew Erik Lowe.

Those closest to Joe would describe him as sweet, loyal, faithful, strong-willed, determined, and even a bit ornery. He will be greatly missed!

Friends and family may express their condolences on Saturday, April 4, 2026 from 11:00 am – 11:30 am at the Snyder Funeral Center, Delaware Chapel, 101 Valleyside Drive, Delaware, Ohio 43015. At 11:30 funeral celebrant Tom Dea'therage will oversee the funeral service. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Ostrander, Ohio.
