Gladys C. Joseph in profound sadness, We, want to express our sincere condolences to the Joseph Family. Gladys C. Joseph's earthly temple is now in the care of the Haley Funeral Directors.
Her Obituary
Gladys Coffield Joseph was the youngest of seven children born to the union of Earl
Dewey Coffield, Sr. and Pearl Hill Coffield on January 12,1932 in Marion, Kentucky.
She was predeceased by her parents and siblings: Velma, Robert, Earl Jr., Mayme,
Ural, and Erma. She was also preceded in death by special niece, Shirley A. Medley,
and special nephew Raymond A. Joseph, Jr.
Gladys graduated from Dotson High School in Princeton, Kentucky in 1950.
She attended college for one year in Kentucky.
Gladys joined the U.S. Air Force in 1952. This afforded her the opportunity to travel
around the world visiting Germany, France, Switzerland, and several other countries.
She was employed by the U.S. Dept. of Commerce National Bureau of Standards for
over 30 years. She was recognized on several occasions for her exceptional work and
distinguished service.
While working for the U.S. Federal Government, Gladys met and married the love of her
life, Charles Joseph, who preceded her in death in 2015. They had a long happy and
fulfilled life, traveling around the world and enjoying their time together for almost 50
years.
Gladys loved attending the Fort Stevens Senior Center in Washington, DC, participating
in various activities and especially enjoyed the Crochet Group. She also cherished
traveling to Marion, KY to visit and care for her aunts, Allie, Ima, and Venna.
After moving to Michigan, she enjoyed reading, talking to family and friends, people-
watching and bird-watching. She treasured spending time with her devoted niece,
Wanda--going to breakfast, lunch or dinner, shopping (especially Goodwill and other
thrift stores), going to the movies, and traveling to visit nearby relatives and friends
sometimes including overnights visits.

Gladys passed away peacefully on June 7, 2025 after a brief illness. She received
exceptional care while residing in Rose Court and Windsor Terrace at Fox Run from the awesome staff including nurses, med techs, dining room managers, chefs/cooks,
servers, and front desk employees.
She leaves to cherish her memory, nieces Wanda Fay Gunn of
Southfield, MI, Bonita
Rooths (Michael) of Dayton, OH, Debra Joseph of Richmond, VA, Valerie Scott of
Richmond, VA and nephews Clifford Coffield of Louisville, KY, Thomas Joseph of
Richmond, VA and one sister-in-law, Bonnie Coffield of Louisville, KY; a host of grand
nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Gladys Coffield Joseph will forever live on in our hearts and we will cherish our
wonderful memories of her.
