Joseph Frederick Grant, a beloved member of the Old Fort community and proud U.S. Air Force veteran, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on February 2, 1937, in McDowell County, NC, Joseph was known for his infectious sense of humor and engaging personality that brought joy to those around him.

He was a dedicated family man, leaving behind his son Chris Grant and wife Sandra, grandsons Bronson Gordon, Tyler Grant and wife Haley, Colby Grant and wife Amanda, eight great grandchildren, and one great great grandson who referred to Joseph as "Daddy Freddy" and a number of nieces and nephews. He will also be remembered fondly by many through the strong bonds he forged over the years.

Joseph's life was marked by many proud accomplishments. He was a charter member of Grace Community Church, a testament to his commitment to his faith and community. An avid fan of UNC Tar Heel basketball, he spent countless hours cheering for his favorite team. He found joy in physical activities, remaining active through bicycling, running, and weightlifting. His passion for volunteering with Samaritan's Purse reflects his generous spirit and dedication to helping those in need.

In addition to his athletic interests, Joseph also participated in senior games and entertained many with his Elvis impersonations. He cherished spending his time in his garage, skillfully using his tools, and sharing stories with friends and family.

Joseph is now reunited with his late wife, Charlotte Jean Grant; his daughter, Amy Elizabeth Grant; his siblings Goldie Piercy, Betty Ann Crawford, and Norman Guy Grant; and his granddaughter, Megan Grant, all of whom have left an indelible mark on his heart.

Visitation will be held on August 26, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Grace Community Church, located at 5182 US-70, Marion, NC 28752. A memorial service will follow, commencing at 2:00 PM with Reverend Jerry Lewis officiating.

In this time of remembrance, we honor Joseph Frederick Grant's remarkable life, celebrating the laughter, love, and contributions he made during his time with us. His legacy will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
