Joseph J. Gringeri, 96, passed away peacefully at his home in Windham, NH on December 3, 2023. Joe was the son of the late Carmelo and Rose Gringeri (Brigandi) and brother of the late Sam, Tony, and sister Frances. Joe is also predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth Gringeri (Hughes), and his loving son, best friend, and business partner, Joey Gringeri. A loving father and grandfather (Papa), Joe is survived by four of his children Mary, Anthony, Elizabeth, and Ann and his 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Joe's passion in life was his work. He established his first trucking company in 1958 and grew it into a business that was awe-inspiring, with his son Joey by his side for over 50 years. If one were looking for Joe or Joey at any given time, the first place to look would be at the garage, where their work was inextricably connected to family and life. Joe didn't believe in retirement and continued to work every day until well into his 95th year.
Joe was a very loving and generous person, always the first to smile and ask how someone was doing. He could light up a room with his smile and heartfelt greeting and couldn't walk into a restaurant or store without brightening someone's day and making new friends. He will always be remembered for his iconic "Think positive, always smile and be happy" at the end of the letters he wrote to those he loved.
A celebration of Joe's life will be held at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to St. Judes as it was a charity both Sr. and Jr. cared greatly about or a blood / platelet donation.
