Joseph Robert "Joe" Harris

On September 15, 2022, at 9:37AM, the Angels of Silence stopped by Arista Care of Manchester in Manchester, NJ at the bedside of 66-year-old Joseph Robert Harris who fell quietly, peacefully, and bravely asleep in the Care of our Lord and Saviour.
Joseph was born on October 2, 1955, to Lozelle and Elizabeth Harris of Newark, New Jersey. Joseph relocated with his parents from Orange, New Jersey on May 1, 1998, to Manchester, New jersey.
Joe started working at the age of 12 at the Bleach Factory located on Academy Street, Newark, New Jersey, while attending school. From there Joe got a job at the Candy Factory. After high School Joe worked construction with his father. He worked for years until his accident which caused him to change careers.
Joe found employment at Handy Manufacturing in Newark, New Jersey where he worked for 10 years. Once he moved to Manchester, New Jersey he worked for Labor Ready in Lakewood, New Jersey which assisted in getting him a full-time position with Woodhaven Lumber of Lakewood, New Jersey.
Joe enjoyed playing the guitar and Bass. An accident caused Joe to mainly play the Bass. He was very talented. He was self-taught at a very young age. He was blessed to play by ear. He hears a song once and could play it exactly as he heard it.
Joe was in a few bands, The Soul Shakers with his brother Lozelle & Sun Goddess with his sister and brother-in-law. Out of his musical career he was most content playing at home with family or in his room.
Joe was a gentle giant. He loved everyone. His greatest accomplishment was when he became a father. He was a proud father to have a little girl that he named Robyn. He was a caregiver, a protector, a chef and a good friend. He loved his family.
Robert, or Rob as he was called, accepted Christ back in 2017, and God kept him for 6 years with Pancreatic Cancer.
Robert leaves to cherish his memories his Daughter Robyn Walker of East Orange, NJ; Sister Wyvonnie Tubbs of Toms River, NJ; Sister-in-Law Vera Harris Staples of Belford, VA; Aunts Lurline Hughes of Lithonia, GA and Virginia Wright of Vauxhall, NJ; Uncles Edward Williams of East Orange, NJ and Frank Young of Atlanta, GA.; Nephews D'Andre & Julius Tubbs of Toms River, NJ, Solomon (Lori) Tubbs of Stowe, PA and Lozell (Reese) Blount of Newark, NJ; Nieces Youlanda (Al) Clark of West Orange, NJ, Cherise Blount of Newark, NJ and Felicia Davis of Delaware; and a host of great nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He is preceded in death by brother Lozelle Harris Jr., and parents Lozelle and Elizabeth Harris.
