Joseph Heet Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Trimble Funeral Home - Jefferson City on Aug. 11, 2024.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph Michael Heet, beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend, who at the age of 44, left us too soon on August 9th, 2024. Surrounded by his close family, Joe faced a short battle with advanced osteosarcoma with remarkable strength and courage.

Born on July 13th, 1980, in Jefferson City, Missouri, Joe was a man of loyalty, dependability, determination, and unyielding spirit. He attended Helias Catholic High School in Jefferson City where he excelled in sports including wrestling, football, and baseball, and Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri, forming lasting friendships. As a college intern, Joe began his career working for Promoter Advertising where he continued for over 20 years.

On November 29th, 2008, Joe married the love of his life, Kathryn “Katie” Wilson Heet in Jefferson City, Missouri. They enjoyed 15 wonderful years together in Springfield, Missouri with their spirited miniature dachshund, Mr. Templeton “T”.

Joe lived life to the fullest. Whether camping, floating down a river, casting a line, or boating and relaxing at the Lake of the Ozarks, Joe found joy in all he did. He enjoyed golfing, pickleball, and snowboarding. He was a devoted Cardinals and Golden State Warriors fan. As a fantasy football enthusiast, his competitive spirit was matched only by his sense of fun. A competition BBQ cook, Joe was always ready to fire up the grill. His culinary skills brought family and friends together, and his passion for cooking was just another way he showed his love for those around him as he delighted in sharing great food and good times.

Joe was known for his bravery and his unwavering strength, qualities that defined him in both his life’s pursuits and the relationships he built along the way. He had an infectious sense of humor and an easy-going charm. He was steadfast and truly loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His family and countless friends, who shared in his many adventures, will forever cherish the memories made together.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Kathryn “Katie” Heet; parents, Daryl and Mary Heet; brother, Jeff (Cheryl) Heet and their son, Hudson (Joe’s godson); parents-in-law, Philip and Wanda Wilson; his brother-in-law, Philip (Grace) Wilson and their children Eliza (Joe’s goddaughter) and Chase; sister-in-law, Christine Wilson; and a large, adoring family who meant the world to him. Affectionately called “Unky Joe”, Joe loved his niece and nephews dearly.

Joe was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Bernard and Laurine Heet and his maternal grandparents Leroy and Jewel Dean Wilbers.

Though his time with us was far too short, Joe leaves a legacy of love, laughter, and a spirit of adventure that will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Visitation will be Friday, August 16, 2024 at Trimble Funeral Homes, Jefferson City from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph, Jefferson City. Reverend Joseph Luzindana will officiate. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery, Taos.  The service will be live streamed for those who wish to watch at home.
