Joseph Maxwell “Joe” Horne, age 74, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 22, 2025.
Born on June 6, 1950, in Tacoma, Virginia, Joe was the son of the late Gradalee and Malcolm Horne. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1970 to 1972, stationed stateside during the Vietnam War era.
After his military service, Joe built a long career at Eastman Chemical Company, where he worked as an operator and training coordinator before retiring. He later enjoyed a second career as a real estate agent. Joe was a graduate of Steed College and a devoted member of Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church. A man of deep faith, he was known to many and loved by all.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joanna Horne; his sons, Brandon Horne, Jason Horne, and James Horne (Ashley Berry-Horne); grandsons, Henry Horne and Theodore Berry; and his sister, Linda Greear (Donald). He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church in Gray, Tennessee, with a service to follow with Pastor John Herdman officiating. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 28, at Mountain Home National Cemetery in Johnson City, Tennessee.
