Joseph Horvat Obituary

Joseph T. Horvat Jr., age 94, husband of Jan Horvat, passed away peacefully Friday August 15, 2025 in Richmond Kentucky at Baptist Health. Joseph was born in Milford Delaware to the late Joseph T Horvat Sr. and Emma Hobbs Horvat. He was a proud Navy Veteran and Sherwin Williams employee for 44 years; Joseph was just 24 years old when he became a Supervisor at Sherwin Williams where he was instrumental in the development of the Resin Plant. Joseph was a girls' softball coach for several years in New Jersey, he was a master woodworker and could fix anything, he was also a gardener, loved fishing and hunting. Joseph and Jan truly enjoyed traveling around the world together. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Carolyn Hayt.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 72 years Janet M Horvat, his children: Debbie Hammond, Pat Horvat, and Tom Horvat, 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends and celebrate Joseph's life on Sunday August 24, 2025 from 2-6 pm at Lake Buck Lodge 431 Battlefield Memorial Hwy. Richmond, KY 40475. Located on the Bluegrass Army Depot.
