Joseph Husler Obituary

Joseph Lee Husler
Joseph Lee Husler. Age 90. Born January 7th, 1935, in Chillicothe, MO to John and Lily (nee Bower) Husler. Beloved husband of 50 years to Elizabeth (nee McKee) Husler; cherished grandfather to Angela (Anthony) Carr of Joliet, Shanna (Giuseppe) Carusi of Crest Hill, and Amber (Daniel) Alstott of Plainfield. Proud great-grandfather of Vincenzo Carusi, Kaelie and Presley Carr, and Scarlett Alstott. He is also survived by his sister Carol Ann (the late Larry) Parker of Raymore, MO. Several nieces and nephews. Dearest friends Allen, Debra, and Benjamin Swiggett.
Founder and former owner of Plattville Coatings, incorporated in 1976. Known and respected by several business owners in the Chicagoland area for his expertise in spraying polyurethane foam and coatings, as well as for his niche in locating/repairing hard-to-find leaks. At the time of his passing, Joseph was one of the oldest members of the Roofers and Waterproofers Union (member of 57 years). Prior to roofing, he worked for SantaFe Railroad and member of over 60 years to the railroad union. Previous to the railroad, he worked as a stockbroker for Merrill Lynch. Before being a stockbroker, he was in the US Army Reserve.
He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, tending to his farm animals (donkey, mules, goats, chickens, llamas, and ostriches), gardening, making wine, and vacationing almost yearly on Fort Myers Beach, FL. He was a very generous man, providing produce from his large yearly garden not only to family and friends but also to local area shelters. Joseph was the type of man that would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.
Preceded in death by his parents John and Lily Husler, brothers James and Robert Husler, stepdaughter Linda Sue McKee, and great-grandchild Donovan Lee Koehler.
Joseph passed away peacefully at his granddaughter Amber's home, with hospice care on Monday, February 24th, 2025. He requested privacy while transitioning to his eternal life.

Dearly Hoded

Though our relationship was non existent and complicated, I acknowledge the ways in which i was shaped by his actions and the lessons I learned through them. May he find peace that eluded him in life.

Will miss seeing Joe in his yard or driving down the street. My daughter did a report in grade school on his llamas and we always walked with our granddaughter down to his farm to see his goats. Many memories. Heaven has another angel now.
