Joseph Dartiguenave Jules of Malden passed away on October 8th, 2025. He was the cherished son of Accuiel Jules and Mazela Thibaud and was born and raised in Jacmel, Haiti. In his early life, Joseph was a force to be reckoned with, gaining respect from those who knew him and knew of him. He never let his vision impede his goals, beliefs, and passions. Joseph pursued higher education and earned a Bachelor's degree and was a certified accountant who worked at the Banque Nationale de Development Agricole et Industriel (BNDAI) for over 10 years. At the same time, he taught high school social science at Luc Grimard, Pierre-Marie Victor, and Isidor Jean-Louis. His love for education led him to start his own school, College Mixte Secondaire Jules Dartiguenave.
Later, when he moved to the U.S. in 1991, he started as a nursing assistant until he went back into accounting at the Bank of New York Mellon. He later became a certified Provider's Assistant through the Department of Early Education and Care and supported his wife, Claudette with their daycare, Bright Kids Family Childcare. He led educational lessons with the students and encouraged sports and fitness.
Joseph was the beloved husband of Claudette (Giraud) Jules and they were married since 1984. He was a devoted father to Myrlande, Joseph, Hans, and Tanya, always supporting and nurturing his family. He was also a father figure to many of his nieces and nephews.
In his free time, Joseph enjoyed education and learning, with a particular interest in history and philosophy. He was an avid reader, constantly seeking knowledge – if you wanted a good debate, he was the guy to do so, sometimes whether you liked it or not! Additionally, Joseph loved watching wrestling, action movies, and soccer. He also found joy in going to the gym and staying active by taking walks with his wife around Malden. Joseph's strong personality is one to always remember. His presence was always known in every room he entered, and that energy is one that will always be remembered and missed by his loved ones.
Joseph is survived by his wife Claudette Jules, his children Dr. Myrlande Jules-Villefranche and her husband Fritzner, Joseph Claudy Jules, Hans Stanley Jules and his wife Katie Jules, and Dr. Tanya E. Jules and her husband Kalen Pinckney. Joseph has nine grandchildren Sasha Villefranche, Zowie Villefranche, Anahelle Villefranche, Claudia Jules, Mheki Jules, Julianna Jules, Ariana Jules, Desmond Jules, and Caroline Pinckney. His sister Jacqueline Jules, as well as many other family members and friends across the United States, Canada, and Haiti have been impacted by his wisdom.
He was a prominent figure to the Thibaud, Girault, Jules, Celestin, Bruno, Joseph, Louis, Valme, Jean, Rochelin, Saint-Sauveur, Andre, Villefranche, Osgood, and Pinckney families, as well as many other family members and friends across the United States, Canada, and Haiti.
He was predeceased by his parents Accueil Jules and Mazela Thibaud as well as his siblings Antoinette Celestin and Jean Jacques Jules.
Visitation will be held at Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St. Malden. on Friday October 17th from 4 – 8 PM.
