Joseph David Katz

Joseph Katz, age 68, of North Fort Myers, FL, passed away peacefully at his home on December 26, 2025.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Legacy Options Fort Myers, 16850 Oriole Rd, Fort Myers, FL 33912. A Catholic Mass will take place on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady Queen of Angels, 376 Prospect Ave, Fort Myers, FL 33905, followed by burial at Alva Cemetery.

Joseph Katz was born in Saginaw, Michigan to Joseph E. and Rachel Katz on January 15th, 1957. He went to school in Saginaw, Michigan and later moved to Florida as a teenager in the 70's. He married Sheri in 1991 in Flagler Beach, FL. They raised four children together, Joseph Jr., Rebecca, James, and Ryan. Later on in life, he got remarried to Nara in 2006 in Fort Myers, Florida. Together, they raised Tasana and Rina.

As a young man, he learned the family trade and started working for Katz Plumbing. As time passed he ran his own plumbing business for many years. In recent years, he acquired his tobacco license which lead him to start his own cigar selling business, "Smokin' Joe's Fine Cigars". Joe lived life to the fullest even though he was battling with Parkinson's Disease. It progressed over the past eleven years, but he was able to fight back through his positive outlook, his comedic timing, sense of humor, and he always kept himself and others laughing. He was never bothered by the big things. Instead, he answered life's challenges with a joke.

Joe had a contagious smile that would light up any room, and he possessed the ability to make anyone laugh with his off-the-cuff jokes - even through his struggle. Joe is preceded in death by John Katz, Joseph E. Katz, Julia Bailey, and Justin Collins. His beautiful life will be forever cherished by his first and second wife, all six of his children and their spouses, his brothers and sisters, his mother and his three grandchildren.

Family, friends, and others whose lives Joe touched are invited to come and pay their respects. For those who are unable to attend the service, you're more than welcome to send flowers to Legacy Options in Ft. Myers. The Family of Joe Katz wishes to extend our sincerest thanks to all who love him.
