Steven J. Roper

It is with heavy hearts that family announces the unexpected passing of Steven Jeremiah Roper, age 47, of Naples, FL, from sudden cardiac arrest.

Born Song Hyun Pan in Busan, South Korea, on January 5, 1979, Steven was adopted at age 2 by James P. Roper and E. Kaye Fleming, of La Grande, Oregon. He loved growing up in a big household, was athletic, and played soccer, baseball, and football. After relocating to Naples, Florida, with family in 1996, he graduated from Naples High School and eventually became a successful tradesman. Most recently he was employed by Best Home Services.

In recent years, Steven turned to Christ and became a loyal servant to God. He loved sharing the good news of the Gospel with those he encountered on a daily basis, telling them how much God loved them. He was a great role model for his beautiful children, Alex and Minah, whom he adored and loved deeply. Most recently he attended New Hope Church in Naples.

Steven loved his big extended family. He is remembered as being a thoughtful, considerate brother and best friend; a great guy to hang out with and watch football and talk sports; and a deeply reflective man who enjoyed having interesting faith-based conversations.

Steven was predeceased by his sister Tonia J. Roper and stepfather Walter G. Fleming. He is survived by many loving family members, including his wife Shinhea Roper, children Alex and Minah, father James P. Roper of Cove, Oregon; mother E. Kaye Fleming of Fort Myers, FL; and siblings Annette (Frank) Lovejoy of Castle Rock, WA; Shaun Roper of Salem, OR; Soonhe (Chris) George of Kennewick, WA; Joshua Kae (Gail) of Inverness, FL; Kimberely (Matt) Steves of Naples, FL; Kassandra (Nic) Santaguida of Fort Myers, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family extends deep thanks to all first responders and Cape Coral Hospital staff for everything they tried to do for Steven.

Arrangements by Legacy Options Funeral & Cremation Services, Fort Myers. A simple viewing where loved ones and friends can say goodbye will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Anchor Christian Church (11651 E Terry St, Bonita Springs, FL 34135) from 11 am to 1 pm.
