Stephen D. Roper

Stephen D. Roper, a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2026, in his hometown of Atlanta, Georgia. Born on November 4, 1950, Stephen lived a full and meaningful life, reaching the age of 75.

Stephen was born to Roscoe and Dana Roper, who preceded him in death. He grew up in Atlanta, where he developed a strong work ethic and a passion for engineering. A proud graduate of Georgia Tech, Stephen embraced the spirit of being a "Rambling Wreck from Georgia Tech and a hell of an engineer." His career as a crane engineer at Crane Service Solutions was marked by dedication and integrity.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Stephen served his country with honor as a member of the United States Marine Corps. He carried the values of service and commitment throughout his life.

Stephen is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Susan Roper, who stood by his side through life's many adventures. He is also survived by his daughter, Kristy "Chirpy" Calderon (Cisco), his sons, John Ashley McGee (Leah Grayson) and Brian Roper, and his bonus son, Kevin Landry. Stephen's legacy lives on in his granddaughter, Jennice Calderon, and his beloved dog, Stella. He is also survived by his brother, Michael D. Roper (Janet).

A memorial service to celebrate Stephen's life will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026, at 2 o'clock in the Chapel of Parrott Funeral Home. The service will be officiated by Rev. Michael D. Roper and Danny "Boone" Milby. Family and friends are invited to gather and share memories from 12:00 until the time of service at Parrott Funeral Home and Crematory.

Steve's humor, love for coffee and sitting on his front porch will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love and strength that will continue to inspire those he touched. Semper Fi!
