Dr. Joseph "Josey" Anthony Kazery, 43, of Clinton, Mississippi, died November 4, 2025. He was born in Flowood, Mississippi, on June 20, 1982, to Samuel "Sam" and Ren Kazery.

He married Ashley Blakeney on May 13, 2006 and they had two children, Jaden and Jordan. He was devoted to his family, forever teaching and bringing joy to his family and friends through magic tricks, science experiments, music, or just sharing his thoughts on various matters. He was a man of faith, an active member of Lakeshore Congregational Methodist Church.

He loved volunteer diving with his son, Jaden, feeding the fish in the aquariums at the Mississippi Natural Science museum. He was ever a scientist and inspired many students to continue their education.

He taught Chemistry and Biology at Clinton High School and for the past 12 years he was an assistant professor of Biological Sciences at Mississippi College. This year, he received Mississippi College's first Academic Advisor Award and gave the 2025 Arts and Sciences Distinguished Lecture.

Josey is survived by his wife Ashley, son Jaden, his parents Sam and Ren Kazery, siblings: Omar, David, Alexis, & Simon, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and friends that loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his son Jordan.

We have known Josey since he was a senior in high school. He and his parents made my children and me a part of their world for which I am eternally grateful. The kids and I will forever love "Jo Jo Power Ranger," and the whole family. He brought joy to those who met him. Thank you for the Selena piano/flute duet! It means so much! Love and comfort to the whole family! Prayers for peace and compassion are lifted! "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." Matthew 5:4

Ashley and Jaden, my parents shared that Dr.K drove them around when they were transitioning to their relocation in Clinton. Also, for the couch Dr.K helped my family with - it is a beloved couch that my mother and my K9 frequent in my parents' living room.
I will always honor Dr. K's legacy every time I see the couch.
My love and prayers to you and yours.

I cannot express how tragic of a loss this is and how saddened we are to hear of it. Josey was a beacon of light, he lifted everyone up with his infectious joy, positivity, love and laughter. I've always counted myself lucky to have him as a friend and to have been able to spend as much time with him as I did back in our twenties. I regret not having made the time for us to get together since we moved to Clinton.

Ashley and Jaden, I am so very sorry and can do nothing but offer condolences and keep you in my prayers. Please let us know if there is anything we can do for you.

Dr. Kazery was a bubbly and bouncing off the wall professor. He was a really amazing teacher and he also helped everyone who needed help. He was very intelligent and I looked up to him and admired him because of that. I wished he knew how much we all loved him and admired him. I remember all the jokes he made and I thought they were crazy but I guess that´s why they were funny.

When I think of Josey, the first thing that comes to mind is his laughter - the kind that filled the air and made everyone around him feel lighter. We spent so many good times together over the years, camping and being part of Scouts with our kids. Those weekends were some of the best - full of laughter, stories, and the kind of friendship that comes from sharing simple moments under the stars.

Josey always had a story to tell. Whether it was something that had happened that day or a tale from years ago, he could make it come alive. He had this gift - to turn even the smallest thing into a moment worth remembering. And no matter how the day went, he´d find a way to make everyone laugh before it was over.

I´ll always remember sitting around the campfire, watching him with that big smile, the kids wide-eyed, hanging on to every word. Those moments are treasures now.

Josey´s spirit was full of warmth and joy. He loved life, loved people, and had a way of bringing out the best in those around him. I´m so thankful to have known him, to have shared those times together, and to carry his laughter and stories with me.

He´ll always be a part of those memories - and of all of us who were lucky enough to call him a friend.
RIP my friend

Sierra loved to visit with you at the high school while Adam and you layed chess. It was a pleasure to get to know your while I taught both your boys in preschool. I will never forget you asking me how to do preschool homework. High school homework was easy compared to trying to get a preshooler to do homework. I'm praying for your entire family and friends.
