Interment will follow at Saint Edward Catholic Church Cemetery (Dale Street) in New Iberia, LA.
Visitation hours observed at Saint Edward Catholic Church on Saturday, September 23, 2023, beginning at 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service. A rosary will be recited at 9:30 A.M.
Joseph was a native and resident of New Iberia, LA. He transitioned at 7:49 A.M. on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at his residence.
"Richard", as he was affectionately known, was a devout Catholic, and parishioner of Saint Edward Catholic Church. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Joseph was employed by Coca-Cola of New Iberia, for over thirty years until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, barbecuing, zydeco and swingout music. He was a diehard New Orleans Saints Fan, and enjoyed watching them play in his spare time. "Richard" will truly be missed by his family and friends.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife: Toni Marie Fontenette Kerlegon of New Iberia, LA; one son: Brian Anthony Kerlegon (Rachel Davis) of Marysville, OH; one daughter: Monique Elizabeth Kerlegon; one brother: John Nolan Kerlegon of New Iberia, LA; three grandchildren: Trilaina Kerlegon, Shawn Black, Jr., and Lashawn Kerlegon; a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Paul Kerlegon and Lydia Dupont Kerlegon; one brother: James Kerlegon; maternal grandparents: Paul Dupont, Sr., and Victoria Boutte Dupont; paternal grandparents, Thomas Kerlegon and Cecile Kerlegon
Active pallbearers are Saul Marinoni, David Livingston, Scott Kidd, Patrick Bonin, Luke Johnny and Shawn Black, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers are Joey Rene, Johnny Louviere, John Nolan Kerlegon, and Raymond Fontenette.
