Joseph Adam Kesler, 89, of Prosperity, passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Newberry Health.
Born on August 3, 1936, in Newberry, he was a son of the late Henry Adam and Dessie Kilgore Kesler. Mr. Kesler was a 1958 graduate of Newberry High School and served in the SC National Guard. Joe worked for many years in the cotton mills in Newberry before starting a career in farming. He was the retired owner of Countryside Farms. Mr. Kesler was a member of Macedonia Lutheran Church and the Golden Agers. He enjoyed gardening, watching westerns, and following the Atlanta Braves.
Mr. Kesler is survived by daughters, Karen (Lee) Neighbors of Greenwood, Gina (Charles) Metts of Newberry and Kathy (Brian) Fulmer of Prosperity; a brother, Ned J. (Joyce) Kesler; a sister, Ann K. (Charles) Senn; sisters-in-law, Vivian K. Kesler and Harriett C. Kesler; grandchildren, Joseph E. (Morgan) Metts, Christopher C. Metts, W. Bradley Fulmer, Derek A. Fulmer, Sam L. Neighbors, Addison C. Neighbors, MD and Anna N. (Andrew) Walker; great-grandchildren, Easton E. Metts, River M. Metts, and Ellie Kate Walker; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Judy Hawkins Kesler, brothers, John E. Kesler, Gerald H. Kesler, James W. Kesler, Jackson R. Kesler, and Fred J. Kesler; and by a sister, Mildred K. Livingston.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, October 26, 2025, at Macedonia Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to Macedonia Lutheran Church, 49 Macedonia Church Road, Prosperity, SC 29127.
Active pallbearers will be Joseph Metts, Christopher Metts, Bradley Fulmer, Andrew Walker, Addison Neighbors, MD, Lee Fulmer, Lyle Fulmer and Derek Fulmer.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Macedonia Lutheran Church Golden Agers, Charles and Joyce Moore, and Leon Fulmer, Jr. and Meredith Fulmer.
