Joseph Jerome Kiely (Joe) was born on August 10, 1943, in the Bronx, New York, to Lt. Joseph J. Kiely and Helen Chilipka. In his youth, Joe earned the rank of Eagle Scout, an early sign of his dedication to service and leadership. He later proudly served his country in the United States Army, achieving the rank of Specialist before his honorable discharge in 1968.

Joe dedicated 35 years of his life to public service as an officer of the Nassau County Police Force, where he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues and the community.

Joe will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and loyal friend. He was known for his caring nature, big heart, and willingness to always lend a helping hand. His presence brought warmth and strength to those around him.

He was predeceased by his beloved first wife of 46 years, Maureen Kiely; his father, Lt. Joseph J. Kiely; his mother, Helen Chilipka; and his stepfather, Julius Chilipka.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 10 years, Ellie; his sons, Joseph and his wife Janine, Christopher and his wife Lisette, Stephen and his wife Julia, and his stepdaughter, Peggy, and her husband Leo. He is also survived by his sisters, Susan and her husband Dave, and Linda and her husband Eric. Joe was a cherished grandfather to Meagan, Nicholas, Bryanna, Dylan, Brody, Brett, Isabella, and Quinn.
